About the book
This book aims to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to reduce the likelihood of abusive and threatening behaviour occurring within the workplace and has been written in line with the Level 2 Award in Conflict Management. Topics covered include communication, human response in conflict situations, assessing and reducing the risks in conflict situations, de-escalating conflict in emotive situations and good practice following a conflict situation.
About the author of this book - Sean Colsey
Sean has been involved in the training of physical skills and dealing with violence, security issues, and conflict management for over 25 years, beginning with 12 years with Her Majesty's Armed Forces, working with both Regular and Specialist personnel.
In 2001, Sean set up his own highly successful, Cardiff-based company, PRIMUS Training and Consultancy offering corporate training packages in conflict resolution, personal safety, all SIA programmes and physical intervention training. Since then, Sean has taken an active role in delivering training to both end-users and trainers, and has also acted as a Tutor Assessor for both SITO (now Skills for Security), BIIAB and is now a QA for Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC).
Sean has delivered conflict resolution and physical skills training courses in a wide variety of sectors including, Premier Football Clubs, healthcare, pyschiatric care, transport, and retail, as well as Ambulance Services and corporate organisations. Sean is currently an advisor and subject matter expert for Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance in the field of Close Protection, Physical Intervention and SIA Training.
The company was founded in 2001 with the specific aim of working with clients to build a relationship that allows both parties to develop a better understanding of one another; this delivers solutions that clients want.
